The latest iPhone 5 release date rumor speculates that Apple will not only introduce its new smartphone on September 12th, but also its new iPad mini. The latest speculation arrives from a report by Rene Ritchie of iMore.
According to IBTimes.com, Ritchie has cited multiple sources which indicate the new iphone 5 is going to be announced on Wednesday, September 12th, with the release date 9 days later on the 21st. He also added details regarding two other new products from Apple, saying:
"The iPad mini will be announced at the same September 12 event, as will the new iPod nano. We haven't heard a release date for the iPad mini yet, but it could be the same as the iPhone 5. It seems likely the new iPod touch will make an appearance on September 12 as well, though we haven't heard any specific information about that yet either."
Despite these new iPhone 5 rumors, some are questioning if Apple will indeed bring out that many new items on the same stage. John Gruber of Daring Fireball noted in his commentary:
"I don't think Apple would want reviews of both a new iPhone and new-size iPad appearing at the same time. Why share the spotlight? Why have another Apple product battling with the iPhone for the top spots in news coverage? So I thought, well, maybe they'd only seed the review units of the iPhone on September 12, with the new-size iPad going into reviewer hands a few weeks later."
Instead of the iPad mini and iPhone 5 announcements being made on the same day, Gruber speculates that the new iPad and iPod would be better introduced in the first or second week of October. That way the new products have seperate stages on which to take the spotlight. The widespread speculation continues to be that the new operating system, iOS 6, will be introduced on September 12th along with the new iPhone 5, which could have pre-orders happening on that same day.
