iPhone 5 release date rumor: Verizon blackout confirms new Apple iPhone 5 date

A new Apple iPhone 5 release date rumor seems to strongly confirm a September 21st release for the new smartphone. It appears there is a Verizon vacation blackout which falls in line with the previously speculated release dates for Apple's upcoming device.

According to TechCrunch, a "trusted Verizon employee" confirmed the service provider is having a vacation blackout from September 21st through 30th. This seems to lend more credibility to those previous rumors suggesting a September 12th announcement by Apple, along with pre-orders of the new iPhone 5, and followed by the September 21 release date.

Of course these continue to be rumors until Apple actually makes an official announcement. However, this timline is a lot like what Apple did last year with the iPhone 4S. It was announced on a Tuesday, the 4th of October. Pre-orders were made available tht Friday, the 7th, and then the actual product was in stores a week later on the 14th.

With the new iPhone 5, it looks like the announcement and pre-orders will be on the same day, although Apple could always move it to the Friday following their September 12th conference. Nonetheless, those waiting for the new Apple iPhone 5 realize that it's probably less than a month away before they'll finally get their hands on the anticipated device.
