New iPhone 5 release date rumor features Apple iPhone 5 and iPad Mini together

With the iPhone 5 release date coming sometime in September, the latest rumors are that Apple plans to also release its new iPad Mini at the same time, according to an August 23 CNET report. Why would they do this?

The reason people believe that the iPad Mini is coming at the same time as the new Apple smartphone is because Apple traditionally releases two products at the same time. This ups the drama factor at its spectacular release events. Of course, the Mini is an obvious choice for the iPhone 5's "and one."

Some people don't think that this is a good idea, which may mean that the rumors are not true. In fact, releasing both together would mean that people would probably only have the money to buy one item. Plus, each item is pretty big on its own, and each deserves to have its own release and review time.

Bringing a bit of sanity to the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini release date insanity, John Gruber from Fireball said,

"I don't think Apple would want reviews of both a new iPhone and new-size iPad appearing at the same time."

What do you think? Will they both hit stores together, or will they be separate announcements. Certainly two different release dates of at least a month apart makes the most sense for consumers and Apple as well as retailers. Separate events give Apple more fanfare, consumers a bit of time between major purchases, and retailers time to recover before the next rush of customers.

One thing seems certain. Apple will release both the new phone and the mini tablet in time for the 2012 holiday shopping season. If you're planning to buy one or both of these soon-to-be released gadgets, be sure to put aside some cash because they'll likely be fairly pricey.
