Leaked iPhone 5 case can be rented for $7,890 per day

In the run up to the launch of the iPhone 5 we have seen more part leaks than for any other iPhone. It has gotten to the point where you can construct a near complete smartphone based on all the leaks, and unless Apple has been cleverly diverting us away from the truth with fake components, there will be few surprises come the expected launch date of September 12.

All these leaks have been viewed as a money-making opportunity by some Chinese companies. The galleries of images appearing on Chinese websites apparently don’t come cheap, with NetEase explaining that in order to get your hands on different parts you should expect to pay, and pay a lot.

For the supposed official iPhone 5 case you see in the images above, access was only given to capture shots and take measurements when a rent was paid. For 24 hours with the case you can expect to pay 50,000 Chinese yuan. That works out to around $7,890. In other words, it’s totally not worth paying for with no guarantee this is an official part.

Some people will be willing to pay, though, and that’s what these companies or individuals are relying on. Who would pay? Most likely accessory manufacturers keen to get their iPhone 5 cases, screen protectors, and clip-on battery packs manufactured in time for Apple’s launch event. With a new dock connector expected too, there’s surely more demand than ever to get an early look and find out exactly how big it is and how it works.

With that being the case, leaked iPhone 5 parts should generate quite a lot of profit over the coming weeks for anyone with access to the production lines.
