iPhone 5 release date: Apple files for Galaxy S III ban ahead of iPhone 5 launch

As the date of the unconfirmed iPhone 5 release date announcement date draws near, reports have surfaced stating Apple wants the Samsung Galaxy S III banned before the new iPhone 5 launch. Apparently now that the technology giant beat out Samsung in court, they are trying to prevent the sale of several Samsung gadgets.

An article at Auto-oMobile says Apple had initially included eight devices which were mostly older models from last year in the list of devices they wanted banned, but now the Cupertino-based iPhone maker "plans to include some of the newer devices into this list, including the flagship Samsung Galaxy S3, Note and Note 10.1."

The article, which was posted earlier today also says "there were eight patents of Apple’s that Samsung ... infringed upon." Those patents included the slide to unlock and universal search functions, as well as the 647 patent which allows users to place a phone call by clicking on a phone number from inside an email.

Clearly the Apple vs. Samsung war is far from over, but if anyone wants the Samsung Galaxy S III they may want to purchase it as soon as possible. Meanwhile the iPhone 5 release date is expected to be announced as soon as September 12th.
