iPhone 5 release date: New cases are on the way as Apple-Samsung war heats up

The iPad 3 already has LTE technology and the Apple iPhone 5 will probably come with 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) also. According to recent information, Samsung wants to use this new feature against Apple and is preparing another patent case against the iPhone 5. Currently, Nokia has the largest share of LTE patents with 18.9 percent, followed by Qualcomm with 12.5 percent, Samsung is at 12.2 percent and Ericsson has 11.6 percent of LTE patents. However, it is expected that the iPhone 5 will be equipped with a Qualcomm chip for LTE use. The chip is expected in the development of the new models and Apple has probably taken great care to offer the smallest possible attack for potential patent disputes. Therefore, Samsung seeking a sales ban is questionable.

Currently, there are smartphones with LTE functionality, but the LTE chips of the last generation use so much energy that the life of the smartphones are adversely affected. Qualcomm, however, has the MDM9615 chip, which can transmit data in addition to LTE. This is now a more efficient chip and would be ideal for the iPhone 5. The latest pictures of the iPhone 5 motherboard clearly show a Qualcomm chip, therefore, the use of LTE in the iPhone 5 is very probable.

Samsung will benefit from the iPhone 5 because they provide supplies for the iPhone 5 processor and storage applications. In addition, Qualcomm, Hynix, Sony and OmniVision Technologies, will all get a piece of the iPhone 5 pie.

In all likelihood, the iPhone 5 will be the next major step on the stairway to success for Apple. The Apple iPhone 5 release date is expected to be announced by a keynote on Sept. 12th, which is less than two weeks away, and it should be on the market on Sept. 21st. These dates can be considered to be safe due to numerous credible sources reporting on it. However, it must be mentioned that Apple has not yet even officially commented on the iPhone 5.
