New images of the iPhone 5 have appeared in China
The famous Chinese singer and actor Jimmy Lin has recently posted pictures of the supposed new iPhone 5 on the Internet. It remains to be seen if this just a PR stunt or real images of the Apple iPhone 5. However, these pictures seem to confirm the rumors of a larger screen. In recent weeks and months, many photos of the alleged new Apple smartphone have appeared which further fuel the many iPhone 5 rumors.
The Guardian and the Bloomberg news agency have unanimously agreed on a September iPhone 5 launch. If you believe the reports and rumors, the iPhone 5 will not be the only Apple innovation in fall 2012. In October, the multibillion dollar company is also reportedly planning an iPad Mini launch. However, nothing is confirmed by Apple. Therefore, there is much uncertainty among analysts.
It was less than twelve months ago when Apple fans were spellbound to Silicon Valley. The new iPhone 5 should of been presented then, but their hopes were dashed. The iPhone 4S was presented, which was a stripped down version of the previous iPhone 4. A year later, the hype is unbroken despite the disappointment from last year. This year, the Apple disciples agree: The iPhone 5 will come.
While Apple fans speculate daily about the sale and the look of the new smartphone, the mobile operators are preparing for the onslaught. The world renowned analyst Gene Munster expects that Apple will sell between six and ten million units in the first ten days and the expectations for the iPhone 5 are great.
Many assume that the iPhone 5 screen will be bigger. For example, the Chinese media portal Apple Daily, has published photos of the alleged new iPhone. In the images, the housing is eight millimeters larger than the previous model. According to the Wall Street Journal, the new display will be four inches tall. In addition, the iPhone 5 will be flatter and the headphone jack moves down. If the many images are to be believed, even the connection will change for the iPhone 5. If this turns out to be true, then old equipment will be rendered useless.
iPhone 5 release date: September, October or Novermber?
Marketing professionals also see the launch in September as very likely. Because the world's largest technology company wants to make sure the latest smartphone model is in stores just before Christmas. Although, since Christmas is in December, it could very well be presented in October or November. Furthermore, it would correspond to the product cycle from Apple to renew the iPhone in October, which would be a year after the iPhone 4S release.
In the last quarter, sales of the current iPhone 4S have plummeted because many customers prefer to wait for the next model. On top of that, Apple is under increasing pressure for renewal, since Samsung has launched its Galaxy S3 on the market. It has a 4.8 inch (12.2 cm) wide screen, LTE, an NFC chip for mobile payment systems, can recognize the face of its owner, and destroys the iPhone 4S. Furthermore, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note 2, which is more powerful than the Galaxy S3 and some believe the iPhone 5 will be no match for this power-packed smartphone overkill.
