The latest iPhone 5 release date rumor to hit the internet involves GooPhone, the maker of an Apple iPhone 5 knockoff. Apparently the company may try to sue Apple over a patent issue involving the company's upcoming smartphone. Do they even stand a chance against the ruler of technology in 2012?
As reported by CNET, GooPhone may have taken out a patent on the design of a new smartphone they created which is based on prototype images of the leaked iPhone 5. The company released their Android-based smartphone just days ago, and apparently could try to say the design is all theirs.
However, the new Apple iPhone 5 release date has yet to be revealed. The smartphone itself has yet to see the light of day, so it's hard to say that Apple is infringing on anyone else's product copyright or patent right now. The company just recently made it known that there will in fact be a major Apple iPhone 5 event next week on the 12th. To further the speculation that it will be for the announcement of the new smartphone, the shadow of that "12" is a "5."
Will GooPhone even stand a chance of suing a juggernaut like Apple, and will the new iPhone 5 look anything like the GooPhone? The world will wait to find out next week.
