The new Apple iPhone 5 only has a rumored release date right now, but a recent poll shows it's certainly going to be a hit on consumer shopping lists. That's according to the survey given to current iPhone 4 owners, who will very likely upgrade to the newest smartphone as soon as it's made available.
As reported by CNET.com, 74% of current iPhone 4 owners are planning to upgrade to the new iPhone 5. The survey results were reportedly presented by TechBargains website, which also indicated that current iPhone 3GS owners, who were surveyed, have a 71% likelihood of buying the newest Apple smartphone as well. The percentage is 64% for iPhone 4S owners.
Also of interest, 38% of Blackberry owners are planning to switch to an Apple iPhone 5, as well as 22% of the Android smartphone owners polled. The survey also found that 32% of people who don't even own a smartphone yet, are planning to get one with the newest Apple gadget. The poll also indicates that over 50% of those surveyed don't know exactly when they'll get the new device, with 10% of those polled saying they'd wait in line to get one, and 35% saying they'll simply order or pre-order online.
The biggest reasons given for wanting a new iPhone 5 are the longer battery life, faster processor, 4G LTE support, and larger screen size. This new poll also found that those surveyed mostly expect the new iPhone 5 price will start at $199, just like the 4S model did. They'll know if they're correct once Apple makes its big announcement on September 12th.
