Windows phones dying in wake of iPhone 5 release date?

The latest news is that people do not want Windows phones, according to an August 30 Fox Business report. Bernstein Research found that people do not want these phones especially when the iPhone 5 release date is looming along with a new Samsung Galaxy handset and several other androids.

Because of this, Bernstein Research is actually releasing a warning for Nokia stock because they are pushing the upcoming Windows phones. Analyst Pierre Ferragu wrote,

"Our research shows that for many years, poor sales of Windows-based phones stem from a deep and stable lack of consumer interest for the product. Despite numerous and repeated efforts of manufacturers (Nokia, but also Samsung (005930) and HTC (2498)) and Operators to develop an alternative to Android and Apple (AAPL) based on Windows, and despite the launch of numerous phones based on Windows with strong features, reviews and marketing support, the operating system remains cornered to less than 5% market share in smartphones."

The worst thing is, that despite all these positive things, consumers consistently do not want Windows phones. There will soon be a Windows Phone 8 platform revealed, but even that will probably not lure consumers to buy this phone from Microsoft.

Have you ever owned a Windows Phone? If so, how did it compare to your iPhone or Android? Would you consider buying one of these phones instead of another type of smartphone despite the fact that the phone is fairly unpopular? Since they have never taken off, these phones are likely no bargain.

Isn't it interesting to see the comparison between this Windows Phone 8 release date and the iPhone 5 release date? There is actually no comparison. Which one do you think you'll end up buying?
