With the iPhone 5 release date expected to be announced in just a few days, one analyst believes Tim Cook and Apple may need some help unveiling their new product. A recent report talks about how Apple may bring in a celebrity to help add some energy to their big event for the introduction of the new iPhone 5.
The report from MacWorld UK indicates that Enderle Group analyst Rob Enderle says Apple may have a tougher time with its latest smartphone launch due to having to compete with the current crop of Android phones, as well as previous editions of the iPhone. Due to this, Enderle says Apple may need a celebrity's presence "to add some Steve Jobs-style magical energy to the Wednesday media event."
Enderle is also quoted as saying:
"Apple has two big products left to unveil this year: the new iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini. Of the two, the phone will be more critical, because Android competitors (Samsung in particular) have been gaining significant ground on the current iPhone."
Enderle says this upcoming Apple event will really be CEO Tim Cook's first big showcase under the spotlight. He questions whether Cook will be able to handle the pressure, or stumble. As for the new Apple iPhone 5, Enderle wants it not only to have some nice new features, but also fixes to previous issues. That includes fixing both Siri and iCloud, which have been "somewhat problematic in actual use," Enderle says.
So will Tim Cook be able to bring the energy that the late Steve Jobs did to Apple events? Could a celebrity be involved in the unveiling of their biggest product release in years? The world finds out on Wednesday, September 12th at the iPhone 5 event, where the release date should finally be revealed.
