With the Apple event for the iPhone 5 release date announcement approaches, new rumors suggest issues with the upcoming iOS 6 smartphone launch. Sources claim Sharp, who is manufacturing LCD displays for the new iPhone 5 have "struggled" to get the shipments out in time for Apple's planned launch.
An article at ITProPortal says Apple's "unconfirmed 21 September release date for the new iPhone may be in jeopardy, based on reports that Sharp has yet to start mass production of screens for the new device." The article, which was posted earlier today says the information came from an "unnamed source," who claims the "major Apple supplier of liquid crystal displays, had planned to start shipping iPhone screens by the end of this month, but delayed those plans due to manufacturing difficulties."
If these rumors are true, surely Apple has a backup plan in place if they intend to launch the iPhone 5 on September 12th, followed by a September 21st iPhone 5 release date. Apple has not confirmed the 6th generation smartphone, or any planned event to announce a new gadget. iPhone lovers will simply have to wait and see what Apple has planned.
