A popular iOS developer predicts, the iPad Mini “a spinoff” of the iPad 2, and the iPhone 5 is already in the testing room.
Instapaper’s creator, Marco Arment, has posted a new blog entry to talk about the iPad Mini and the long-rumored iPhone 5 smartphone of Apple inc. With the title “Predicting the ‘iPad Mini’ internals,” Arment claims that the smaller iPad Mini will sport the same components being used by last year’s iPad 2 or the second-generation iPad with the dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 3G and WiFi support.
According to Arment, he saw two new iOS devices in the Instapaper activity, a certain iPad2,5 and one iPad2,6. By comparison, the iPad 2′s “numbers” are iPad2,1 through iPad2,3. He also added that the iPad2,4 “is the 32nm die-shrunk update that quietly replaced the 16 GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 when the iPad 3 was released.” In short, he wants us to know that he knows all the numbers involved with the iPad and other Apple products.
However, he clarified that this is just a prediction whilst explaining that a jailbreaker can fake the numbers on its iPad. “But I’ve never had a device show up there that didn’t end up being a real, about-to-be-released Apple device,” he also added.
Arment also talked about the iPhone 5, claiming that it also appeared in the Instapaper’s device stats. He said, “there were also a few iPhone5,1 devices, but that’s not a surprise — that’s almost certainly next month’s new GSM iPhone.”
According to All Things D, Apple will hold a separate iPad Mini event in October, shortly after the launch of the iPhone 5 this month. Rumor has it that Apple will formally announce the iPhone 5 by mid-September, and will start shipping the device with Long Term Evolution, larger display and new design by the end of September.
Meanwhile, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently speculated that Apple will launch the iPad Mini alongside the larger iMac 2012 in October, weeks after the launch of the iPhone 5 and new iPod.
