As the iPhone 5 release date is expected to be revealed next week, rumors continue to fly about the features, design, specs, price and availability of the new Apple smartphone. A new image recently leaked, which some believe may show that the device may not even be called the iPhone 5.
The leaked photo comes via TechCrunch, which shows a woman holding up a sheet rumored to be packing for "The new iPhone." The image originally was published at the iPhonenieuwsblog.nl website, and seems to indicate that the number "5" will not be part of the name of this new smartphone.
As TechCrunch notes, the internet reports have attached the name "iPhone 5" to the latest Apple device, but the company tends to keep things simple. With that in mind, they may simply call this new product "iPhone," or the photo could have been doctored somehow as those in the comments section believe. However, as the website points out, other Apple products have simply been called by their name without a numbered version attached for each new edition. Examples are the Apple TV, Mac Pro, and iMac.
The new product, which some still believe will be called the Apple iPhone 5, is set for a release date of September 21st, according to internet rumors. Apple has begun preparing and sending out press invites for their September 12th iPhone 5 event where they are believed to be introducing their new device to the world.
